no parent can do therapy at home as effective as therapist does : here are the reasons why12/30/2021 1. Training of the parent is of days or weeks or months compared to therapists training of decades. Despite that many therapists are not confident how they may improve the kid, half knowledge makes parents overconfident,
2. Parents get trained live, only on one kid, while therapista are trained in hundreds of different kids, hands on. 3. its a waste of time, if u go random and donot know what next, when next, how next? 4. By knowing what to do, a parent may learn the information of know how... but not show how and do how 5. Therapy is not just about having toys, puzzles, swings, slides and trampolene with a play area. its a science. 6. Home therapy doesnt mean having many toys and devices at home. it means developing skills at home with home based environment on real objects and not toys. 7. if you are confusing therapy with activities of seeing and doing, you are not understanding how communication, language and intelligence can be added to it in steps. 8. if you are doing same activity or puzzle or book for more than 3 years, you are not letting your kid improve beyond that specific toy or device. 9. Therapy is not just knowing having sensory issues, but its about using the sensory into executive by appropriately and timely modulating it. 10. Without a short term goal periodically guided by an expert, therapy at home is waste of time and money. When the goal is improving your own kid and that too right now; by joining a course or training program or reading books on therapy; you are wasting the time that you would have used on your kid. your knowledge, information and training is less likely to be used on your kid, because by the time u get experienced to unerstand its science and knitty gritties... your kid may have already passed the age of early intervention. So do read, learn, understand, but dont deprive your kid of timely expert intervention. Your learning can surely be more helpful for other kids, at their appropriate age. Disablities are fixed damages; that cant be cured; but surely can be overcome. It can be done by training the adjacent part of body to perform a near equivalent function of the disabled area. It surely helps improve outcome and quality of life. Consistent and continuous positive approach is must.
